College esports

The committee changes. The tournaments shouldn't.

Campus esports runs on one person's laptop until that person graduates. playnex keeps the events, the entrants and the results with the club — so next year's committee inherits a working setup instead of a folder nobody can open.

Why this matters on a campus

Continuity is the whole problem

Ask any college gaming club what happened to last year’s tournament records and you will get the same answer: they were in a senior’s Drive, and that senior has left. Registration forms, brackets, results, sponsor commitments — all of it walks out with the outgoing committee.

On playnex the club is the account. People come and go as members; the events stay. Adding next year’s committee takes a minute and removing last year’s takes less.

What campuses run on it

Fest brackets

A three-day gaming fest with four titles running in parallel, each with its own bracket, its own moderators and its own chat.

Weekly club nights

The same settings every week. Post it, approve the roster, push room details, record results, go home.

Inter-college leagues

Multiple campuses, one bracket, players registering from wherever they are.

Trials and selections

Pick the squad that represents the college. Every match recorded, so the selection can be justified when someone asks.

What a faculty advisor will ask

Our committee changes every year. What happens to the tournaments?

Nothing. The organisation owns the events, not the person. Add next year's committee as members, remove last year's, and every past tournament, entrant list and result stays where it is. No spreadsheet to hand over and nobody's personal Google Drive to lose access to.

Can we give juniors limited access?

Yes, and this is the point of roles. A first-year can be a Moderator who approves entries and watches chat but cannot edit or delete the tournament. A Tournament Manager runs the event but cannot touch billing. You build the roles you want.

Can we run an inter-college event across campuses?

Yes. Entrants register with their own playnex accounts wherever they are; the bracket does not care which campus they are on. For a LAN final, room credentials still reach each player's phone.

Do we need budget approval?

Not to start. The free tier runs one tournament a month with up to 16 players, which covers most first events and every trial run. Tell us you are a college club when you talk to us — we would rather have campuses on the platform than squeeze them.

Can we use our college's branding?

Your club's, yes — logo, cover art and colours on your public page and every tournament. Use your institution's marks only if your institution has said you can; that is between you and them.

Is any of this gambling? Our administration will ask.

No, and that answer needs to be crisp when a faculty advisor asks it. There is no cash entry and no cash payout on playnex. Prizes are points and sponsor products, which places it outside the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025. Point them at our terms if they want it in writing.

Fest season is closer than you think.

Set the club up now, run a small one to learn it, and go into your next fest with the operations already solved.
